Marc Stevens – Marc is the co-main character who eventually becomes the “Athlete For Hire”. He is a senior majoring in Civil Engineering at Southern Florida College (a fictional School located 10 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale. Marc is a highly acclaimed three sport athlete with a national name recognition after being featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. This after leading Southern Florida to the college baseball World Series tournament and the NCAA basketball tournament in his junior year, and perhaps most importantly based on the anticipation that he will be a top pick in the next NFL Draft if his prowess as a wide receiver (the “white Jerry Rice”) continues as expected. He is 6’3” tall, weighs 200 lbs., and is described in SI as a “very fit and good looking guy”. His penchant for pranks is well known to his friends and family, and he is also known to write and then recite poems at birthday parties, weddings, and school functions. He grew up on Long Island in a middle class family.
Scott Thomas – the other co-main character, Scott is the Founder, President, and CEO of the Scott Thomas Group which owns the three major sports franchises in Atlanta (Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks). He is in his mid forties and is the consummate business person combining a strong work ethic and desire to be the best, with a creative philosophy. His love for sports was evident from the time he was playing in Atlanta youth leagues, having moved there from NYC at the age of 7. Ruggedly handsome and always very well groomed, he is sometimes referred to by the nickname “Slick”. Scott is a widower, his wife a victim of a car accident 10 years ago, forcing him to raise his daughter Jenny, now 18, by himself. His favorite expression is “dopey bastard”, most often used without malice to his friends and associates. A little known fact is that he changed his name from Tomasetti to Thomas after graduating college. This to distance himself from his father’s mob connected ventures.
